Parts & Labor pop up bar review: I never went to the original Parts and Labor, though I admired it while going to Sweet 27 across the street. On one hand, it looked like a fun special occasion restaurant. On the other hand, I'm not that into meat. Except sometimes... really well raised, non factory farmed meat. This morning while out on the water with my kayaking partner we started to talk about P&L's closing. My friend had been a P&L regular, and gave me to know that they had had some non meat options. Later in the day, we stopped by the new pop up bar, with a very limited menu but a full complement of beverages. My friend speculated that they might be using up their bar supplies. The chalkboard menu listed a pork tostada and a classic burger and we both got the burger. I ordered mine medium rare, thinking that mattered. The bartender assured me that the patty was thin and would be fully cooked. I ordered it anyway and when it arrived there was plenty of pink inside. The bun was toasted in butter, the onions cooked, the pickles and lettuce in place. Possibly the best burger I've had in memory. We had a salad on the side ( no fries available, potatoes are not in season, said the bartender) which was a lovely salad with juicy tomatoes, grilled carrots( who knew?) and big chunks of umami laden Parmesan. We quaffed Old Oriole Park Ale with our pink, greasy, crispy, meaty, pickle covered cheeseburgers. A perfect Baltimore combo. Sometimes you just want a burger. And when you do, get on over to the pop-up, while they last.

Good food, great meat...I'm hungry...let's eat! Yep home made sausages, high quality meats and cheeses that you'll pay a fine price for. Atmosphere is terrific....even a fire pit outside in the middle of the big nm Dining is a pleasure with terrific service and intimate booths. Great beer selection. Try the pork chop sandwich and ham and cheese. Great chicken liver spread too. The down side is that lunch for two with a drink and appetizer hits the $60 mark.

I came to Parts and Labor early last evening to meet a friend for dinner. I really enjoyed looking at all of the amazing meats and things they have for sale. I also was totally thrilled to see a ping pong table out front! The servers here were very friendly-- there was no problem for me to claim a table, order a happy hour draft ($3!) and chill in the pleasant environment here. I loved hearing the Grateful Dead, Little Feat, and The Band on their restaurant soundtrack. We both ordered meat sandwiches (pulled pork and something else...). The server suggested we could have them cut in half so we could share-- great idea! Both sandwiches were about $12 and completely and totally special and delicious. My only complaint-- the rectangular metal trays for serving must be super trendy. I just find it super unappealing. I get that this is hip and utilitarian, I just prefer a real plate. Whatever. For getting to hear Box of Rain it is all good. On the way out we both purchased extra meat goodness to take home. It is hard to resist real, fresh, meat that comes from local farms, not the big box grocery store. Some people have complained about the parking-- Parts & Labor has a parking lot near the Otto Bar but I had no problem finding parking on the street. Hey, you live in the city, you learn how to parallel park. So, Parts & Labor definitely has some hipster-ish tendencies but I am OK with this. The quality of food, service, and ambiance was all worthwhile and worth coming back for, especially since I have a very real need to play ping pong. Thank you for the great experience!

Parts and Labor is the Mecca of farm to table. If you spend two minutes reading about this place you will know they butcher their own meat in house, and only resource their meat from select Maryland farms. I have eaten here many times and still have not had a bad experience. The wait staff is beyond pleasant and the food is top notch. The only bad is that their menu is rotating so that one amazing meal you had before may not be their next time. That's ok, because if your a true foodie then trying something new is right up your alley. It's a relaxing atmosphere where you can wear a suit or you can go in short and a T-shirt and you won't be judged. You will find the rich and find the locals and it all blends well!! If your in luck they will have boudin or blood sausage on the menu.... if they don't no worries you will still have a fantastic meal.
